Known for its vibrant culture and traditional artwork, Cotacachi, located in the Northern Andes in Ecuador, is the perfect namesake for this generously sized blanket. With its bold colors, the Water Edition of the Cotacachi blanket brings to mind a rainbow reflecting through the sky. The blue hues used in this design represents cosmic space and the expression of the stars. Made with recycled textile fibers (80% acrylic), wool (15%), and alpaca wool (5%), this handmade blanket is both eco-friendly and super soft. Hang this colorful Otavaleños blanket in your home or office for a gorgeous decorative statement piece.

  • This high quality, artisan made blanket will bring rustic charm to any environment. Great for the home, mountain cabin, snow related activities, beach, camping or evenings by the fire.
  • Not your average throw blanket. Manufactured in the heart of Ecuador by native Otavaleños living amidst the Andes Mountains and volcanoes.
  • Eco-friendly and non allergenic. This blanket is made from 80% sustainable materials: high recycled modacrylic, which lowers our carbon footprint,15% wool, and 5% Real Alpaca.

AWESOME comfort wrap

Love the vibrant colors and texture. Makes room feel very home like and comfortable

Beautiful versatile blankets

I can’t wait to use them at my house in Montana. The perfect compliment

I couldn't help but read up on blankets from Ecuador after visiting this past year and say "yikes!" They are a fraction of the price you are selling for here. Same and similar designs cost 10 times less. I would feel much more comfortable buying directly from the artisan, not a third party who sees more profit from resale than the artisan does. The artisan only makes double the profit while you make 10 times that. That IS exploitation. Shame on you. How do you sleep at night?

Hi, Jan! Thank you for your concern. We started this company by collaborating with an Otavaleño family to give back and support the artisans. We ourselves are Ecuadorean (our mother is born and raised Ecuadorean), and we have spent a large portion of our childhood in Ecuador. The artisans have expressed their gratitude, because we have promoted their community and products (which they would not have been able to do on their own), as well as significantly increased their income and livelihood. We are happy to refer you to the artisans for their own support of our endeavors. Not only do we support and promote the Otavaleño community through Ecuadane, but we have also donated 100% of our sales in December for Project Muisne. In the project, we built five homes for five families in Muisne, Ecuador who lost everything to the devastating 2016 earthquake. We are planning on doing more projects like this in the near future. A large portion of our revenue goes to supporting the Otavaleño community, exporting the blankets, providing free shipping to our domestic customers, promotions, product developments, etc. We are committed to our mission of giving back to those in need (, preserving the Otavaleño community (, and sharing their story of artisanship with the world ( Once again, we thank you for your concern, and we hope you understand now what we are doing. If you want to learn more about our mission, do not hesitate to explore the links I shared above. All the best!
Should be illegal

This is a complete ripoff. These otovalan blankets can be had for $20-$25 all over ecuador. In the words of my Quiteña aunt: "this is exploitation"

It didn't let me put zero stars.

Dear Mateo: I understand where you are coming from. If you take a flight to Ecuador, you will find some blankets that look like ours in different markets and have all kinds of prices. However, they are not Ecuadane blankets. We work very hard collaborating with the artisans, a family from Otavalo, who work very carefully to share their culture through the design of the blanket. The cost matches these standards. Through Ecuadane, we are helping them strengthen and support their culture, not exploit it. I hope you understand.
Love it

Beautiful colors and design! Super soft and big enough to cover a queen size bed!
